{Lutes & OUDS}

The building of lute instruments

is a great joy for myself, too.

In fact I collected a ton of experiences in luthiery, with this kind of instruments before I made my first guitar.

I made ouds, bouzoukis, mandolins and lute-guitars.

My ouds and oud tops have proven to be very spectacular in sound. I restored many ouds by Nahat and Khalife to name just a few.

Building an oud rib by rib following the rules of proportions by Al Khindi is what makes it a highly balanced instrument.

The lute-guitar or german lute is what I would love to see played more often.

I usually go to hunt a 80+ year old instrument and rebuild everything around the body. Some times a few decorative elements can be used.

To make it more comfortable for the modern guitar player, I am making a regular classiscal guitar

neck and bridge. At the end you have the playabillty of a classical guitar and a sound somewhere between baroque and parlour.
